Clarice Lispector’s translators in the United States

ABSTRACT Clarice Lispector’s entry as an author into the United States happens at different moments, beginning in 1950s, with translation of several short stories, carried out among others by Elizabeth Bishop, culminating a biography written English Benjamin Moser 2009, and little later, publication stories other pieces, emblematic edition entitled The Complete Stories, 2015, edited translated Katrina Dodson. These publications put translators spotlight, they were responsible for renewing Clarice’s presence on American soil. This paper aims to research works English-speaking cultural system, considering only context. aim is highlight these professional figures who contributed dissemination this important Brazilian writer abroad, analyze their profile, also examine imprint some translations performed, such prefaces, postscripts, notes, etc., assessing degree visibility invisibility (Venuti 2021).
